European Jews, shut out of country after country as they tried to escape Nazi persecution, found hope in an unlikely place: Shanghai, China. In 1946, American photojournalist Arthur Rothstein began documenting the lives of these Jewish refugees. An exhibition of his photos at the Illinois Holocaust Museum, featuring photos and artifacts donated by Holocaust survivors who lived in the Shanghai ghetto, is a tribute to human endurance. Virtual. Please register in advance and the program link will be sent to you.
