For Jewish congregations, the High Holidays are a time of reflection and renewal – and for cantors, they’re a time to show the congregation just how varied, unique, and inspiring Jewish prayer melodies can be. Participants will listen to and discuss how some of our greatest cantors turn the poetry and drama of the High Holiday liturgy into unique opportunities for breathtaking and original musical expression. Led by Hankus Netsky, Ethnomusicologist, New England Conservatory of Music
