East Meets West: Cross-Cultural Exchange Then and Now with Phoenix Art Museum
Hosted By: DOROT
Growing up in Japan, Hiromi was always interested in things outside Japan. After moving to the US, she found a joy in learning about her roots from outside. The path led her to a master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Indiana University, and now to the docent program at Phoenix Art Museum.
Chinese and Japanese art had significant influence on Western art for centuries. What kind of influence did they have? What did van Gogh and Frank Lloyd Wright have in common? Does the East-West boundary still exist today? Please join her as she explores the role of artists and their surrounding environment in making East-West connections. Led by Hiromi Yampol, Phoenix Art Museum
