Join master storyteller and performer Dr. Judith Cohen, Canadian ethnomusicologist and musician, to hear and learn more about the beautiful, mystical sounds of Sephardic music from the greater Judeo-Spanish world. This introductory program will include details on the music in Medieval Spain pertaining to Jewish, Muslim and Christian communities and will cover the role of women in Sephardic songs. Judith accompanies her singing and storytelling on traditional frame drums of Spain, Portugal and North Africa, on the medieval bowed vièle, Appalachian mountain dulcimer and other instruments.
