Demystify Shakespeare’s Sonnets
Hosted By: 92nd Street Y
So much ink has been spilled over the centuries in trying to demystify Shakespeare’s Sonnets (154 of them). When were they written? Who was the young man? Who was the dark lady? Are these missives of homosexual love? To whom were they dedicated? And by no means are all 154 of them absolute gems. But some of them are. In this short course on the Sonnets, Professor George Gopen will choose a favorite few and look at them very closely – to see not so much what they say as how they function. This class is offered through Zoom.
