New York City Fire Museum Virtual Tour
Hosted By: DOROT
Ever since the Dutch settled on Manhattan Island in the early 1600s, fire has been one of New York’s greatest natural arch enemies. But how did the creation of a dedicated group of firefighters in the 1700s help keep the flames under control in the growing metropolis? This is the story of the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY), New York’s Bravest who’ve put their life on the line for nearly 400 years to keep New York City safe from the flames. Join DOROT as they explore the history and evolution of the FDNY, and how an organized group of trained firefighters have used innovative tactics, team work, and technology to battle fires and other emergencies around New York City. This virtual tour will be led by NYC Fire Museum Executive Director and historian Gary Urbanowicz
